This question is one that is often asked, and here we explain how TikTok sees a video.
When you post a video TikTok show that video to a percentage of your followers and also a percentage of new viewers, this normally ranges between 200-400 people, that’s why most videos tend to sit on the 200-400 views mark.
TikTok chooses your audience based on what it knows from the video, so it will analyse it, will look at the text you use, will look at any hashtags and so on. Now TikTok does not specifically care about hashtags unless they are relevant, but the right hashtag can get your video shown to a more specific audience, which actually can grow engagement.
When its sent your video to 200-400 viewers TikTok will then analyse the response, the engagement, this is the only thing TikTok care about, things like shares, have people re-watched it, saved the video and so on. TikTok does not specifically care about likes.
Once TikTok have analysed your video, if the engagement is good, TikTok will give it another push.
You have to always remember the important factor is the initial push, if people don’t engage with your video, TikTok will just move past pushing it.
So engagement is the key, it’s always been the key on TikTok, but with videos it’s even more important.
