Nics – Creator Engagement Manager

Hi everyone!

I’m Nicky, and it’s nice to meet you all.

My TikTok journey started in 2021, and I was just posting fun, silly little videos sometimes – but mostly scrolling through my fyp and finding funny videos to make me laugh, or cute animals or other interesting things.

Then I started a business on TikTok, making personalised items for people on TikTok live. It went so well, and I was streaming live regularly.

Mental health and real life happened, and I stopped all of it. When I came back to TikTok around Christmas, I was overwhelmed with the kindness and support I was shown from my little corner of TikTok; my community. I’ve stayed on there since then, and have made 2 different accounts in addition. One is for my weight loss journey (I’m on mounjaro!) and one is for my gaming. I stream regularly on my gaming account, playing cosy games, building a community and recognising those that have supported me from the very beginning. I have a huge community over on another app, which I’ve bought over to TT, and it’s just brilliant.

Doing all of this, and knowing Felix in real life has bought the opportunity to come and join the Optimum family. We’ve worked together in the past with other projects, and he knows my creativity levels!
I am excited for this community to grow, and will always make people feel valued, appreciated and supported if you need any help with your own TikTok journey.

So excited to meet you all!

Beth – Creator Engagement Manager

Hello, nice to meet you, I am Beth. My TikTok journey started probably like most people when Covid was around. At first, I wasn’t really using the app; it was more of a scroll to pass the time. This changed quite quickly when I met Jonjo back in late 2023. I was the silent watcher who just tapped the screen for a while, and now I take part in community games / events.

Joining the community has allowed me to meet so many amazing people, allowed me to grow my confidence, and be a little more extroverted.

Being part of the community has also given me the opportunity to be part of Optimum. I will continue to make others feel welcome and heard if you have any concerns or questions about your own TikTok journey.

Looking forward to meeting and chatting with you all.

Felix – Co-Owner

I’m Felix a Co-Owner with Jonjo.

My journey on TikTok started a few years ago, I had moved countries, was lonely, and so started browsing TikTok, it was fun, passed some time, and meant I could speak to English people without having to worry about what I was saying and translating.

It was a difficult period of time, and one day I randomly just sent someone a gift, the way their face lit up, made me smile and forget all my problems. That showed me just how different a simple act of random kindness can do to make someone’s days.

Since that day I’ve always wanted to use TikTok to make a difference. It’s not even about gifting, it’s about spending time with people, asking about their day, making them know they are not alone, little things like that make so much difference. Kindness breeds kindness.

TikTok is also very negative, so much bitterness from some people, I think that’s because they may be sad, so pass that sadness on to others, a few times I’ve wanted to completely leave the app, but because of the nice people I have stayed, and grown. I didn’t even use to go live, now with confidence of my friends on TikTok I go live, and enjoy hours of streaming, and doing well. TikTok is for anyone.

So how did the Agency come about, well I bumped in Jonjo a long time ago, didn’t really get him, or understand him, and then one day I took the time to spend time in his live, and we just hit it off immediately, and become friends. I was an Administrator for another Agency and Jonjo became a Manager in that Agency. We then decided that we have a different outlook, we don’t want to do this for money, we want to help change lives. So that’s where Optimum Creator Network came from, a chat with a Vodka and we decided we are going to help others benefit from TikTok like we have.

This is a long journey, running any business is hard, but doing it with my best friend, makes it all so simpler.

Jonjo – Co-Owner

hey im jonjo co owner of optimum, i started my journey on tiktok 3 years ago after hearing the life changing things it can provide, before my tiktok journey i was homeless and in a very bad place. i needed a escape from the real world, i started tiktok joking around with friends just being me not knowing the difference it would make to my life. i started going live just eating food doing food challenges like the hot chip and the words spiciest noodles. when i started tiktok i didnt even know you could earn money from it, i just enjoyed knowing i made people smile, after a year on tiktok i started building a beautiful community who supported me for me.

i started doing battles and finding like mind people like myself. another year had past of me going live constantly everyday being me, dancing around, going supermarkets doing pranks, one night in january i was doing a battle and someone put me in the weekly rankings number one, id never seen anything like this universes flying accross my screen, 55 to be exact. this was life changing, id never seen sort of money. this helped me buy a better phone it helped me pay rent, buy nice things.

one thing i can say about my tiktok journey its not been easy lots of loses but lots of wins, staying humble was the main thing and coming back stronger was my only option, so if your ever reading this and you want something in life work hard for it, stay committed but have fun, chase your dreams, set yourself goals and strive for success, 3 years later im co owner with my bestfriend owning a agency where we wanna help others on the same journey i had.

MIND

Optimum Creator Network supports a number of charities, one of the ones we support is MIND, who helps with mental health.

https://www.mind.org.uk

About Mind: The mental health charity for all

At Mind, we believe mental health matters. We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.

Find out more about Mind, what we do, and how we’re making a difference across England and Wales.

What is Mind?

Mind is one of the leading mental health charities in the UK. For over 70 years our work has ensured that anyone struggling with their mental health has somewhere to turn to.

We offer vital support services and campaign for better mental health polices. And we work to break down stigmas surrounding mental health in society.

What we do

At Mind, we’re fighting for the mental health of people in England and Wales by:

  • Mental health support – Anyone can use our Infoline, legal help, and online advice when they need it
  • Campaigning for change – We push for better mental health services and workplace support
  • Offering workplace training – We help businesses create mentally healthy environments
  • Working with local Minds – We want to help communities by offering local support across England and Wales

The impact of our work

How does Mind make a difference? Each year we publish an annual report highlighting what impact our work has in England and Wales.

In the last year we have:

  • Responded to thousands of queries through our support and information helplines
  • Helped more people get the mental health help they need, with our resources used over 25 million times.
  • Encouraged peer support with our Side by Side online support community
  • Driven change with over 30,000 of you campaigning with us to improve mental health services

What we’ve achieved

For over 70 years, Mind has worked to make life better for people with mental health problems.

Here are some of the things we’ve done:

  • Helped change the law to reduce the use of force in mental health units
  • Pushed for shorter waiting times and helped get £1 billion in funding for mental health care
  • Led big campaigns like Time to Change and helped stop unfair treatment of people with mental health problems
  • Made sure mental health spending is clear, improved crisis care, and worked to change the benefits system

Mind Cymru

Mind Cymru is part of Mind, but with a focus on improving mental health services in Wales. We’re working to make sure everyone in Wales has access to mental health information, support and services when they need it most.

Local Minds

Mind supports over 100 local Minds across England and Wales. Local Minds support communities with essential mental health support including:

  • Supported housing – assisting those who need a safe space to call home
  • Crisis helplines – helping those who need immediate support
  • Drop-in centres – establishing a place for people to connect
  • Employment schemes – supporting people in getting back into work
  • Counselling and befriending – helping people feel heard and supported

How we raise and spend our money

Mind relies on donations to fund our life-changing work. We’re so grateful to everyone who supports us. That’s why we’re committed to being open about how we’re funded and managed.

Our funding comes from:

  • Generous public donations and corporate partnerships
  • Fundraising events and charity challenges
  • Sales from Mind charity shops
  • Grants and support from trusts and foundations

Our strategy

While mental health affects everyone, some of us face greater challenges in getting support. Our strategy focuses on supporting people disproportionately affected by mental health issues. We prioritise:

  • People from racialised communities
  • Young people
  • People living in poverty

Our policy work

We don’t just give support – we also push for change. Our policy work helps shape government decisions so people with mental health problems get the help and respect they need.

We campaign for things like:

  • Better laws to protect people in mental health crises
  • Better care in hospitals, more talking therapies, and good online support
  • Ending stigma, unfair treatment, and harmful things like conversion ‘therapy’
  • Working with leaders to get funding, improve NHS plans, and keep mental health a top priority

Updates to direct messaging settings

What are direct messages?

Direct messaging helps you connect with your friends and community on TikTok. Messaging means you can send and receive messages and share TikTok posts directly on TikTok.

What is changing?

Direct message settings on TikTok will be changing within the next few weeks. We will send you a notification when your new settings are ready to use.

I am 16 or 17 years old, what is changing for me?

Your new settings will include the following permissions:

• Friends: These are users who you follow and who follow you back.

• Potential connections: These are users who have mutual connections with you, are a follower, or someone you follow.

• Others: These are other users who are between the ages of 16 and 17 on TikTok. If you choose to turn on Friends, then messages from your friends will always be delivered to your inbox. If you choose to turn on Potential Connections and Others, then you’ll receive a message request instead. If you choose to communicate with them, you will have to accept their message request first.

I am 18 years old or older, what is changing for me?

Your new settings will include the following permissions:

• Potential Connections: These are your followers.

• Others: These are other users on TikTok. Messages from your friends and people you follow will always be delivered to your inbox. People you may know will always be able to send you one message request. You can also choose to allow your Potential Connections and Others to send you a message request. If you choose to communicate with them, you will have to accept their message request first.

When are my settings changing?

These updates will be happening within the next few weeks. When the new settings are here, we will inform you by inbox notification . Please check these notifications.

Why are my settings changing?

We understand that there is an adjustment period when new features are launched. To help ease the change, your new settings will be updated based on your current selection . For example, this means that if you currently have “no one” selected, when your new settings arrive, your updated settings will all be defaulted off.

What protections are in place?

We have strengthened our safety protections. When new settings have launched, users who are Potential Connections or Others can only send you one message request. You have the choice to accept their message or ignore it.

If you are a teen, users who are 18 years of age or older who you do not follow will be blocked from sending you a message request even if you have the Potential Connections or Others setting set to “Requests”.

You will still be able to report accounts and content that violates our Community Guidelines and block accounts.
